What Happened: We Love Feasted!

On Saturday evening, we gathered for our quarterly Love Feast.

Late in the afternoon, and much to the curiosity of onlooking fishermen, several of our new partners braved the cold water of the Wissahickon river to get baptized. From there, we headed over to the East Kensington/Fishtown neighborhood, where our Frankford and Norris congregation lives. Friends trickled in one by one…until there was over 170 of us gathered!

We threw a tasty potluck dinner and everyone was fed by the food their friends shared. There was time for catching up with old friends and making new ones across our Network of 3 congregations. For some, these feasts are the only occasions they will see one another-so it makes this gathering particularly special.

Once we had our fill of good food, our friend, Adam, shared his wisdom about urban bee-keeping and, along with our pastors, helped us imagine our life as a church much like that of these intricately communal little creatures. Greg and the gang led us to sing, clap, and dance together. We tasted and celebrated the sweetness of the Lord as we shared stories, prayed together, and  welcomed 14 new partners into our covenant! Indeed, what a great night.
