P.A.P.A. Festival Mission Team
PAPA Festival seeks to continue to be a national, volunteer-run, donation-based event that gathers a dynamic group of Christians and others to form a little village where we celebrate, support, and empower one another.
Motivated by the Spirit of God, we foster the development of DIY, earth-sustaining, and relationship-building skills that we take home to create a more compassionate and just world.
Mission:
PAPA Festival gathers people together to listen, dream, share, and create as we explore life together, following the example of Jesus. As we camp out in a celebratory village created by a collaboration of voluntary labor, we work, rest, play, and learn so that we can return home, challenged to live out these practices in everyday life.
PAST SUCCESSES
- PAPA 2006 drew together over 500 adults and children, and PAPA 2008 drew together over 850.
- PAPA remains a donation-based festival, yet through donations of individuals and communities, PAPA has become financially self-sustaining. After all expenses were deducted from the donations to PAPA in 2008, the balance remaining provided sufficient funding to jumpstart the next PAPA.
- PAPA has been a celebratory, life-affirming, inspiring gathering for communities and movements. It is a powerful space for the integration of new friends, and provides much-needed space for those of us who’ve already been walking together to check in.
